Thierry Henry talked up the importance of Arsenal keeping their momentum for the Europa League by beating Watford 3-0 at The Emirates on Sunday.

Shkodran Mustafi headed Arsenal into the lead in the eighth minute at The Emirates before Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang latched onto Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s through-ball to make it 2-0.

Petr Cech then saved Troy Deeney’s penalty before Mkhitaryan added a third for the home side in the 77th minute in north London.

With Arsenal way off the pace in the race for a top-four finish, their best hope of qualifying for next season’s Champions League is likely to be winning the Europa League this term.

And with Arsenal set to host AC Milan in the return leg of their last 16 clash at The Emirates on Thursday night, Henry talked up the importance of the Gunners claiming the three points on Sunday.

“It was all about Thursday before the game,” Henry told Sky Sports.

“What you want is to still carry momentum by winning today. But it is all about Thursday when you saw the team they put out today.”

Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season and they have not won the title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign, when Henry was still playing for them.
