Arsenal are riding high in the Premier League and pundits have been trying to decipher the secrets of Arsenal’s new found mojo. Some have ascribed it to the arrival of Ozil while others have attributed the form of Ramsey but Flamini seems to have a divergent opinion.
“For me it’s not been complicated to be part of the team because the philosophy is still the same here,” Flamini told Arsenal’s website.
“We still think the same way, we still play the same way and that’s because of Arsène Wenger. For me coming back here was like I never left. The difference to other teams is maybe the stability.
“When you look at other teams like Chelsea and Manchester City, you can see a lot of players coming in and coming out.
“I would say that’s the main difference between Arsenal and other teams. I really believe that in football, stability is very important because it gives you continuity.”
I agree with Flamini. Besides the acquisition of Ozil and the right vein of form that Ramsey has been enjoying, the stability and continuity that the Gunners enjoyed in the summer was key. Unlike in previous seasons, Arsenal were able to keep the core of the first team. Also, despite the enormous pressure from fans, Wenger resisted the urge to buy too many players. He even flaked Tottenham when they were splashing the cash to bring in over 10 players. When trying to buy, Wenger opted to bring in Flamini that understood the style of the team against a big money move for Mourane Felliani. The decision has proved a master stroke as the Frenchman has adapted to life at the Emirates while Felliani is still struggling at Old Trafford.
Another edge that is working for Arsenal is the newness of Arsenal’s rivals’ managers to their club. Pellegrini and Moyes are new to Manchester City and Manchester United while Mourinho is still trying to adapt to the style of the players that make up his squad. All these feet finding by Wenger’s rivals has given the Frenchman the opportunity to storm into the lead and might just be pivotal in the Gunners winning the EPL title.
