With the acquisition of Rob Holding, Granit Xhaka and Takuma Asano Arsene Wenger’s claim of being very active in the transfer market arguably seem to be justified. But the Gunners may not been be leaving the transfer market soon following their contact of Germany born centre back Shkodran Mustafi’s agent – this is according to report.
The recent injury to Mertesacker means Arsenal are condemned to add another quality defender to their rank as Chambers and Holding are very much inexperienced to man the centre back position. Confirming the talks between both clubs, a media mogul of football insider revealed on twitter that:
“Last week contacts between Arsenal and the agent of Shkodran Mustafi, German defender.
“Obviously Mustafi isn’t the big deal. He’s an option for CB – though [Jeison] Murillo remains a target. Club want to get forward sorted first.”
The 24-year-old world cup winner had a stint with Everton earlier in his career and might not find it difficult to adapt in the EPL. But it is left to be seen if Valencia would allow the tough tackler to leave without signing a replacement for him.
