Arsenal legend Lee Dixon does not think Arsenal will sign Liverpool’s want away striker Luis Suarez, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners have had two bids rejected for Uruguayan who has expressed his desire to join up with the Gunners, although still has his heart on a dream move to Real Madrid. Despite bidding in excess of £40 million, Liverpool remain adamant that only a bid of £55 million will be enough to sign Suarez.
Former Gunners left-back Dixon believes that the only way Suarez will leave Liverpool is for La Liga giants Real Madrid.
“I think Rooney has a chance of going to Chelsea but I’m not sure about Suarez. I just don’t see him going to Arsenal to be honest. I think if he is going to go anywhere it will probably be to Real Madrid.”
Suarez has made no secret of his desire to join Madrid but so far Arsenal are the only team to have made an official bid and with their offer of Champions League football, Suarez is more than happy to move to London. Madrid’s pursuit of Tottenham star Gareth Bale could price them out of a move for the Uruguayan and so his only hope of a move to Bernabeu this summer is if that deal falls through.
The Gunners are eager to bring in big name signings after missing out on Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli and Wayne Rooney preferring a move to Chelsea.
There has been rumour that a deal has been struck between the two clubs that will take effect on 28 August if Arsenal qualify for the Champions League however that will remain a rumour until the end of the transfer window.
