Striker Confirms He Will Sign For Arsenal After Meeting Wenger

Yaya-Sanogo

Just when so many Arsenal fans are beginning to get worried about the transfer activities ( or lack of it ) of their club, some good news come their way from France. If quotes been carried by various French media outlets are to be believed, Yaya Sanogo is a Gunner. Arsenal’s move for Yaya Sanogo was confirmed by the player himself after an ‘impressive’ meeting with Arsene Wenger. The 20-year old announced himself to the world last season by scoring nine goals in only 11 appearances for Ligue 2 side Auxerre.

The player had attracted plenty of interest across the world but the decided a move to Arsenal was best after meeting with manager Wenger in a Paris hotel. His contract expires this summer and had been tipped for a move to the Emirates but the club had so far denied any deal.

However, the player has ended any rumours about his future by confirming he is set to join up with the Gunners. His choice of clubs was between Lille and Arsenal but choose the Gunners after meeting with scout Gilles Grimandi and Wenger. The player was impressed with what he was told and was convinced a move to Arsenal was the right path for him.

“Wenger told me I would get opportunities and reassured me about my injury. He told me he had followed me for years. That meeting was very important and today I am an Arsenal player. It will be an amazing adventure. I am just eager to start in one of the best leagues in the world. It is a dream that has come true.” Sanogo told Sky Sports.

After a mass exodus of exits of Arsenal youngsters, it seemed that Sanogo would be a replacement for the Under 21 side but the striker’s comments suggest Wenger plans to use him in the first team next season. The club are also chasing Gonzalo Higuain and Wayne Rooney while they already have Olivier Giroud, Park Chu-Young, Marouane Chamakh and Niklas Bendtner on the books although only the former is expected to stay beyond the summer.
