The striker was a target for Arsenal a few years ago with Arsene Wenger inviting him to the club for a trial where he excelled. The club were willing to offer him a professional contract but couldn’t agree in negotiations with his club Caen with Milan eventually agreeing to buy him.
He enjoyed a good season last year making 20 league appearances but only managed to score one goal, and that came in the Coppa Italia. The Italian club now have a plethora of attacking talent and some players will have to make away, Niang is one of those players.
Milan are yet to confirm this with the source coming from Gianluca di Marzio, a popular Sky Italia journalist who has a reputation of being accurate with transfers.
He stated that CEO Adriano Galliani is planning on bringing in Adil Rami & Keisuke Honda, which will also see M’Baye Niang and Jherson Vergara leave the club. No connections with Arsenal were made by di Marzio but the want for a striker at Arsenal, the low price and the fact that Wenger is a fan of Niang created the link.
The story has been published in both England and Italy but all the sources go back to the Daily Express.
Arsenal are also interested in Milan team mate Stephan El Shaarawy, with secret negotiations apparently already underway over a possible £25 million move.
