Dutchman is understood to fancy Old Trafford, where a big summer defensive revamp is planned, but is on rivals’ radars too
Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij is ready to switch to the Premier League this summer — and is keen on joining Manchester United .
The Netherlands international centre-half is set to move on a Bosman free transfer after the Rome club publicly admitted they have given up on new-contract negotiations.
Man United are watching developments closely, and Lazio believe De Vrij already has an offer in place, which is why they have stopped discussions to extend his four-year stay.
Lazio’s sporting director Igli Tare has confirmed talks over a new deal have ended with the 26-year-old making he clear he wants to go.
Tare said: “Lazio have withdrawn the proposal we made for a new contract to De Vrij. We are withdrawing, for reasons that we will explain later on.
“It was a choice made after many months of negotiations, but there is also a limit to how things went.
“He has been an exemplary professional and we thank him for that, as well as what he’ll do until the end of the season.
