Stats In Pictures: With His Inch-Perfect Passes” – How Granit Xhaka’s RARE Interceptions & Passes Aided Gunners To First Victory

The Gunners’ midfield pivot of Granit Xhaka and Santiago Cazorla was brilliant and, Arsenal’s other midfielders can learn a thing or two from the summer signing from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Arsenal’s display against Watford presented most of what the Gunners faithful wanted to see, with Xhaka having a great understanding with Cazorla and fitting well into his new role – despite just three games into the campaign.

It can be said to be fate handing Xhaka a chance to showcase his talent and tell Arsenals fans what priceless jewel he is. Putting it into reckoning the Swiss was not supposed to start against The Hornets. Arséne Wenger has Francis Coquelin in the starting XI up until an hour that the French midfielder was deemed too ill to feature and, Xhaka was thrown into the fray.

Xhaka’s perfect longball passing was evident and it was brilliant as the left-footed midfielder completed six of his nine longballs and 87 % of his passes in general – having failed to impress Wenger on the two occasions he has featured.

He also made four successful tackles, two interceptions and four clearances. Xhaka used his hunger to grab his chances and left no room for doubts. One could only wonder why the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere have not taken their chances when given the chances to play in central midfield.

Xhaka is arguably the only Arsenal player that has really seized an opportunity for quite a while.

His sustained partnership with Santi Cazorla is what i really look for to. A significant difference between him and Ramsey is that he plays his role and does not try to outshine the his midfield partner.
