Arsenal will face Watford in the Premier League later today but there is so much attention in what is going on in the January transfer window as it is deadline day.
ARSENAL defender Nacho Monreal has discussed the moment he signed for the Gunners on transfer deadline day.
Monreal joined Arsenal on this day four years ago and has become one of the key defenders for Arsene Wenger.
And he told the official Gunners website about how the deal from Malaga came about.
“It was so quick the transfer,” he said.
“I remember on January 31st, I woke up, looked to my phone and had two calls from Santi (Cazorla).
“I thought ‘this is really strange, Santi calling me in the morning’.
“So I called him and said ‘Santi, how are you, what’s happening?
‘Nacho, do you want to come to Arsenal?’
‘Do you want to come here?’
‘Yes, yes of course!’
So the transfer was really quick. One day I was training in the morning with Malaga and I didn’t know anything and then 10 hours later I was signing my contract with Arsenal. So it was a really strange day for me.
