Arsenal target Stephan Lichtsteiner has insisted a deal to take him to the Emirates Stadium is not yet complete.

Standard Sport revealed last week that the Gunners were optimistic of securing a deal for the 34-year-old right-back, who held talks at their London Colney training ground ahead of an imminent move.

Lichtsteiner, who won seven Serie A titles in a row at Juventus, did nothing to dampen those links, though he affirmed that any claims of a done deal were wide of the mark.
“Nothing is finished yet,” he told reporters in Switzerland. “I cannot comment on the negotiations.

“As long as nothing is completed, that is always interesting in football. I think we all know that.”

Lichtsteiner added that he did not yet know whether the move would be concluded before Switzerland’s World Cup campaign kicks off against Brazil on June 17, though Arsenal would want to have the switch done and dusted by then.

The former Juventus defender, who is believed to have been offered a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months, is expected to act as cover for Hector Bellerin and add trophy-winning nous and experience to the dressing room.
