It is reports as this that we can out rightly dismiss as untrue.
Riyad Mahrez is back in the transfer radar of Arsenal with reports according to Skysports claiming that Arsenal will attempt to sign the Algerian when the transfer market re-opens in January.
The report claims Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the player even before the season Leicester City won the Premier League, so there seem to be so much to smoke in the report.
In fact, back in August, we reported on Mahrez’s new deal with Leicester and highlighted how Arsenal had not actually shown any serious interest in the player.
Now that his price tag has been hiked, will Arsenal still pay huge sum for him? I doubt it.
Sky Sports has been credited with the report, which has given some credence to the fact that we may be interested in him afterall.
Given that Mahrez is now under contract until 2020, a deal which has no release clause, it would take a whopper of a bid to get Leicester to consider selling him.
Do we really need Mahrez? It’s a NO, unless Ozil wants out of the club.
