The Lucas Perez situation has taken another twist, with Levante reportedly now making a loan bid for the player.
Lucas seemed to be getting closer to a £14m move back to Deportivo La Coruna, but Mundo Deportivoare reporting rumours of a new loan bid from Levante, which would involve a loan fee of a maximum of £2.8m.
Lucas and Arsenal now only have a few days to conclude their whole summer of negotiations around his future, so hopefully things will start to move a little more quickly (or a lot more) between now and August 31st.
The Spaniard scored just the one league goal for Arsenal last season, in 11 appearances. Although he fared much better in the cups and in Europe, Wenger never relied on him enough to give him a good run in the side to prove himself, and the limited minutes Lucas received as a result clearly affected his performances.
Arsenal would probably be best off moving the player on a permanent deal as this would not only free up the wage bill, but also give the added bonus of a transfer fee for alternative options in the market.
But if there is anything that Wenger still sees in the player at Arsenal, perhaps a loan during a World Cup year could be the best way to keep both parties happy.
