Norwich City have completed the signing of Arsenal midfielder Savvas Mourgos on a permanent deal, confirm the Gunners on their official website.
According to Arsenal.com, Mourgos has made the switch to Norwich City for an undisclosed fee, and will be hoping to get first-team opportunities at Carrow Road, given the lack of minutes under Arsene Wenger.
Signed in 2014 from Greek side Panionios, the young midfielder spent the majority of his time in the Arsenal youth teams and failed to break through to the seniors.
He made five appearances for the U23s last season, while being a regular for the U18s before he turned 19. It seems he failed to impress enough to be kept on at Arsenal, and when the chance came to ply his trade elsewhere, both the club and player were happy to part company.
Arsenal have been keen to trim the squad, with Wenger admitting he had a tough task to sell enough of the deadwood before the summer transfer closed. Although, it didn’t appear he was too worried about the youth squads.
Nevertheless, Mourgos will be keen to prove the Gunners wrong with his new club, and we wish him all the best with the Canaries.
