England international and Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere says he is close to signing a new contract with Arsenal.
The Englishman has shown brilliant performances for the Gunners this season following a broken leg earlier this year.
Wilshere has just six months remaining on his current deal with Arsenal and would leave the club for free should he not extend his stay with the club.
Arsene Wenger and the midfielder have always expressed their desires to continue working together and now it seems a resolution to contract talks will be found.
“I spoke to the boss and he said he will speak to me. We’ll see when he speaks to me and I’m sure it will get done,” the playmaker told Sky Sports.
Wilshere first broke into Arsenal team in 2008, but has since struggled for consistency following series of injuries.
A successful loan spell at Bournemouth last season was cut short in April after the £90,000-a-week star suffered a fractured leg. However, the midfielder has been available and shown good form this season.
He took the man of the match award as Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 3-2 on Thursday night to move the club within a point of the top four.
