A Spanish website Vozpopili has revealed Arsene Wenger turned down the opportunity of signing Karim Benzema in the just concluded transfer window. Vozpopili reports that Karim Benzema was offered to Wenger doing the negotiation for Di Maria and Mesut Ozil but Wenger said a big NO to his fellow French man.
The website claim Benzema was offered to Arsenal as Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t like the player and wants him out so he can sign other strikers he rates. One of the strikers Ancelotti wanted to sign was Mario Gomez who himself has confirmed he was made an offer by Real Madrid but refused to join them because he felt he would not be given enough playing time. Luiz Suarez was also linked to Real Madrid in the last window but according to Vozpopili, Real Madrid never pursuit the opportunity to sign the Uruguayan as they needed to first sell Benzema.
The reports claim it was Karim Benzema that was first offered to Arsenal even before Ozil was offered but Wenger claim he has no interest in signing the player at the price Real Madrid were quoting him. Although it is a known fact that the player is very much liked by Wenger but he was put off by the 40 million price tag Madrid placed on the player.
If the reports are true, it will not be surprising to see Arsenal signing Karim Benzema in the January transfer window especially if reports from El Mundo Deportivo another Spanish media house that Real Madrid want Monaco’s Radamel Falcao in the January transfer window are true.
