Arsenal ran rally over Bulgarian side Ludogret in the Champions League yesterday. The highlight of our game was Ozil being assisted to his first ever professional hatrick.
The fans as well has Arsenal players have been celebrating the thrashing of their opponent and the mode of celebration has not gone well with former England international and Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand, who has subtly blasted our players for posing in pictures.
Ozil bagged his first ever hattrick in the rout at Emirates and took to Twitter and Instagram to share a post-game celebratory snap of him and his teammates in the dressing room.
As typical with most footballers of the now, social media is one way they show case their mood. Ozil was joined by other players including Alex Iwobi, Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin and Gabriel Paulista in the picture but Ferdinand is not impressed.
This was the picture he posted on his Instagram page.
‘I have said it before, I wouldn’t be doing that until I have got my hands on a trophy,’said Ferdinand.
‘If that is what the boys want to do…it’s a new age.’
Ferdinand’s fellow pundit on the night for BT was former Manchester City centre-back Richard Dunne and he too was wary of Arsenal celebrating victories that mean very little in the grand scheme of their season.
‘It’s great when you win something but not a group stage in a competition,’ said Dunne.
He added: ‘Arsenal have always been undone by not winning trophies.’
I had seen Paul Pogba celebrates wins of Manchester United but Ferdinand seem to be unaware of his former club’s player.
There is no harm in taking pictures, and so there is no need of making anything out of Ferdinand’s own opinion.
