Arsenal have now lost two Premier League games from the beginning of this season but yesterday’s defeat was attributed to the slothfulness of Mesut Ozil.
The Gunners playmaker was slammed by a large section of fans for his contribution – or lack of it – in the final third but pictures arguably show he was also at fault for Ashley Williams’ winning goal in the 86th minute.
The Goal by Ashley Williams would have been prevented if Ozil challenged him but he was left to alone without proper charge.
While the Toffees centre-back is always going to be favourite in the air against Ozil, the German did not even attempt to get anywhere near the ball – in fact he actively moved away from it.
After the final whistle, Wenger appeared to single out the midfielder for the defeat, stating: ‘We had some very good chances, especially from Mesut.
‘They made the game very physical then we lost our flow.’
