Still taking swipes?
Arsenal star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has taken another thinly-veiled swipe at Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho over his style of football.
The player was unable to get going at Manchester United despite such promise after an incredible season with Borussia Dortmund prior to the move.
Though, it’s safe to say that Mkhitaryan and Jose Mourinho didn’t see eye to eye and that might actually have been why the Armenian did not succeed at Old Trafford.
The player has recently made his feelings known on his time at United but is looking forward to testing himself at the Emirates.
However, he has today made comments that could well be a dig at Jose Mourinho and the defensive football that he plays.
In the last year I played in Dortmund with Klopp, Dortmund was playing very good football and I think it seems to be a bit similar comparing Arsenal to Dortmund,” he told ESPN.
“I’m very happy to be here. I get pleasure playing offensive football and being part of Arsenal.
“Every offensive player wants to play offensive football. For me as well, I always love to play offensive football, it’s not easy to defend all the time.
“It’s necessary to do the best for the team, but in this case, when Arsenal are playing offensive football, I’m trying to give everything I can give to the team.”
Whether he meant the swipe or not is yet to be seen, but his claims on ‘it’s not easy to defend all the time’ certainly seems to have Mourinho’s name written on it.
