Since his unprecedented star to stardom at Arsenal, Alex Iwobi has won the heart of the fans and he has been in the spotlight.
The 20-year-old Nigerian international was on target for Nigeria in their World Cup qualifiers and has been equally consistently good for Arsenal this term.
Since returning from a thigh injury, Iwobi has started Arsenal’s last three Premier League games – all victories – and fans have taken a liking to the 20-year-old.
However, he was left looking over his shoulders after the victory against Chelsea.
“There’s been a lot of crazy things,” Iwobi told Arsenal’s official weekly podcast when discussing Gunners supporters.
“The last home game we played, I was driving, baring in mind I know there’s a lot of traffic but you do weave in and out, but for 15 minutes there was one fan following me and I was getting a bit scared.
“I was getting close to my destination thinking ‘I’m going to have to do a detour just to get to the destination before he finds out where I’m going’, but yes that was a bit mad.”
Despite Iwobi’s bizarre incident, he has settled well into the side, having provided three assists in the league already this term.
“I’ve set my targets and goals and just try to prove to everyone that i am good enough to play in the team.”
Although, there are competitions for places in the attack of Arsenal, Iwobi is expected to be a starter when we host Swansea City in the League this Saturday.
