Arsenal’s failure to conquer the Premier League in previous seasons have been attributed to the financial shenanigans and recklessness of the club’s executive.
This season, Arsenal fan base may not see the club sign record breaking deals after Chief executive Ivan Gazidis claims Arsenal cannot outspend rivals clubs.
Despite having almost 200million pounds for transfers last season, Arsenal failed to sign any outfield player and the only notable signing made this season has been Granit Xhaka from Borrusia Monchenglabach for 35 million pounds.
“We can’t afford to outgun competitors that have far more money. We have to be very careful, very selective,” Gazidis told the New York Times.
Giving the nature of inflation in the transfer market, Arsenal must be willing to break the bank in other to sign world class players else they may not be able to compete with their rivals. The willingness to sign players on Arsenal’s part seem unavailable.
