Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson has slated current boss Arsene Wenger for his ‘arrogance’ after the Gunners coach reiterated his loyalty to the club.
Wenger, who has been at the north London club for 21 years, has faced a barrage of calls for his departure after a lifeless 3-0 Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
The Gunners have been accused of falling behind the rest of the Premier League, having not won a title since the Invincibles season of 2003/04.
And Wenger has borne the brunt of fan frustration since, but insisted this week he turned down the world’s top clubs to remain with Arsenal.
The Frenchman, though, has not found favour with Robson. He told TalkSport: “Did you see his interview yesterday?
“‘I’ve turned down the world to stay at Arsenal’ – he’s so arrogant, it’s untrue.
“The reason he stays at Arsenal is he can do what he wants, he’s not under pressure and he gets paid nearly £10million a year – that’s why he stays at Arsenal, not because he’s loyal to the club.
“If he was loyal to Arsenal and loved Arsenal so much, he would have left two or three years ago.”
