Arguably the best buy of the summer for Arsenal, Shkodran Mustafi is gradually establishing himself as a tough tackling defensive stalwart – he impressive display has been acknowledged by team mate Theo Walcott.
Mustafi joined Arsenal during the closing stages of the summer transfer window in a a £35million deal from Valencia but he has since settle into the Gunners side.
In fact, he has already been dubbed ‘Shkrodan leader’ by fans. “If you are not doing right he tells you,” says Walcott.
Walcott, hoping to be named in caretaker boss Gareth Southgate’s first England squad, said: “Shkrodan’s brought such strength and solidity. Of the new players, he especially gets people up for games.
“If your not doing something right he tells you. He’s a German international and that’s the way he is. He and Laurent Koscielny have been fantastic centre-backs. They have a very good relationship and it bodes well.
“We act when the opposition gets the ball and we do it as a unit, everyone acts together, not just one or two.”
