Arsenal had barely won Crystal Palace 48hours ago and they will take on Bournemouth a few minutes from now. This of-course has got Arsene Wenger talking and joined by Jurgen Klopp over the EPL fixtures.
In contrast, Chelsea’s Antonio Conte is in the claim that he is relishing his busy schedules.
In recent days Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp have questioned the number of games being played over Christmas and New Year.
Wenger said ahead of his side’s game against Bournemouth tonight: ‘In 20 years it is the most uneven Christmas period I have seen on the fixture front.
‘The difference of rest periods is absolutely unbelievable, compared to the other teams it is unbelievable.’
Meanwhile Klopp raised the issue after his side’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland yesterday, saying he offered his players the chance to miss the game if they felt too tired.
However Chelsea manager Conte feels very differently. Speaking ahead of his side’s game against Tottenham he was making no pre-emptive excuses, instead saying he actually preferred a busy run of fixtures. He said with his team in such good shape physically, it was no problem.
‘Usually I prefer when there are many games in a few days because we work a lot, very hard to face these periods,’ he said.
‘Before this (current batch of games) we played three games in six days. In this circumstance we show a good physical condition. For this reason I like to play a lot of games in a few days.’
