ARSENAL are considering cashing in on Mesut Ozil in January.
The Gunners have struggled to tie Ozil down to a new deal and his contract expires in the summer.
And now Arsene Wenger is giving serious thought to selling him this winter rather than losing him for free, according to the Mirror.
Ozil, 28, has missed Arsenal’s wins over BATE Borisov and Brighton with injuries and played just seven minutes against West Brom.
Prior to that he had made four Premier League starts but his importance to the team appears to be on the wane.
Inter Milan have made public statements on their interest and may be tempted to make a cut-price offer when the transfer window opens.
Arsenal could lose both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez over the next 12 months with both watching their contracts tick down.
Sanchez has been the subject of interest from Manchester City, PSG and Bayern Munich, while Ozil has struggled to find a suitor.
But newly-rich Inter could be an option. Ozil is thought to be keen on staying in England and had his advisors check on interest at Manchester United.
He was also linked with Barcelona in the summer, but they are still keen on a move for Philippe Coutinho and may wait for him to become available.
Ozil has come under fire since arriving at Arsenal for £42m in 2013.
He was supposed to herald a new era under Wenger after he finally signed a ready-made world superstar.
But, while showing glimpses of genuine class, he has frustrated fans with a series of underwhelming display and his on pitch demeanour has drawn criticism.
Former England defender Stuart Pearce thinks Wenger should take the money and run.
“Part of me thinks if they get good money for Ozil, take the money and move on,” Pearce said on Sky Sports.
And former Arsenal ace Paul Merson has called him lazy.
