ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly at odds with head of scouting Sven Mislintat over a deal for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.
Arsenal are currently in talks with Manchester United over a deal that will see Alexis Sanchez complete a stunning move to Old Trafford.
The Chile international has cut a frustrated figure at the Emirates all season and, though he initially wanted to join Manchester City, United now appear set to win that battle.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan with the 28-year-old supposedly wanted as a replacement.
But Daily Star journalist David Woods claims the Armenia international is not actually Wenger’s preferred Manchester United choice.
Instead, Woods insists interest in Mkhitaryan is down to head of scouting Mislintat – with Wenger preferring the club to sign Martial.
“Re Alexis Sanchez proposed Man United move – Arsenal’s new head of scouting Sven Mislintat is keen for Henrikh Mkhitaryan to be part of the deal,” he tweeted.
“He took took him to Dortmund. Arsene Wenger wants Anthony Martial.”
Martial was linked to Arsenal over the summer after struggling for United under Mourinho last season.
However, the France international has been back to his brilliant best so far this term.’
Martial already has nine goals for the campaign – one more than he managed in the whole of last season.
And Mourinho will be reluctant to let him leave, even if Sanchez arrives.
A strikeforce consisting of Sanchez, Martial, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku could help the Red Devils win the league title next season.
