CSKA Moscow winger Arnor Sigurdsson has admitted that playing for Arsenal is his childhood dream, but he’s not thinking about a transfer right now.

19-year-old Sigurdsson joined CSKA from IFK Norrkoping over the summer, and he’s slotted straight into the Russian side’s senior team.

The Iceland international has made 13 appearances this season, including five in the Champions League, and he even scored his first European goal against AS Roma last month.

Signed as a winger, Sigurdsson has also made some appearances as an attacking midfielder with CSKA.

He recently spoke to CSKA News in an interview translated by Sport Witness, admitting he supports Arsenal and would love to play for them someday.

“Of course (playing for Arsenal is a childhood dream),” Sigurdsson replied.

“Playing at the highest level with the best teams in the world is my dream to this day, but I would say that CSKA are one of the best, constantly playing in the Champions League. Therefore, I’m not thinking about any other team.”

Before Sigurdsson joined the club, CSKA took on Arsenal under Arsene Wenger late last season.

The young forward admitted he thought it was time for a change in North London, but Arsene Wenger will always be his manager.

“I am one of those who wanted a change,” he said. “I like Emery’s style, but Wenger will always be my manager. He built an incredible career in London, did a lot for the club. He became their manager three years before I was born!”

Sigurdsson has two goals for CSKA this season and both of them came in the last month, so it seems like he’s starting to get a run of form together with his new club. It’s still very on in his career in Russia, so we wouldn’t expect him to leave just yet.

However, if Sigurdsson continues to push on and has a big year, maybe Arsenal will start to consider making that dream move a reality
