According to report, Giroiud isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but has had a quietly brilliant start to the 2016/17 season in terms of sheer impact.
The France international has had to respond to being demoted to the bench for much of the campaign, but has relished his role as a super-sub and seems to be learning how to make more of the chances he gets.
Previously known for being one to miss easy chances and slip up at costly moments, Giroud is now providing Arsenal with a goal or assist every 49 minutes on average this season – a better rate than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.
The 30-year-old has had a fine few days after scoring a goal-of-the-season contender with a ‘scorpion kick’ strike against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day, followed by a stoppage time equaliser against Bournemouth yesterday.
With his telling impact whenever he’s on the pitch for Arsenal, we’ll even excuse Giroud’s shocker of a celebration last night. Maybe.
