If reports in the Spanish media are anything to go by, then former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie may be on his way to Barcelona in the winter transfer window. There have been reports lately that Van Persie is not happy with new Manchester United manager David Moyes and as a result he will consider leaving in January. Some reports even claim he has hand in a transfer request at Manchester United.
Van Persie has struggled with injuries this season but has managed to score a total of 7 goals in 11 premier league managers. However, Manchester United are currently 9th on the EPL table 13 whopping points behind Arsenal.
According to sports Barcelona have been told they can sign the former Arsenal star for as much as £38million which is far higher than what United paid to Arsenal in 2012. If the reports are true and Robin Van Persie is actually on his way to Barcelona, this may actually open the door to Arsenal signing their own long term target Pedro Rodiguez. Only recently high rated Spanish paper Marca wrote :
“Pedro Rodríguez is not having the greatest time at present. Things have not gone as the Tenerife-born player would have liked this season, especially after cementing a place in the first team last season.”
“Pedro is not happy at the moment, but it is only November and there is a long way to go before the end of the season. The complex situation can be clearly seen with Neymar and Messi certain starters in the side and the sensational form of Alexis Sánchez meaning there is no place for him. It also seems hard to imagine the line-up changing for next season.”
After that report, new reports emerged that claim Arsenal were in advance discussion with Barca to sign Pedro and with Barca now been linked to RVP, maybe, just maybe Barca will finally let Arsenal have Pedro especially as they could do with the money from his sale to fund the purchase of RVP?
