Arsene Wenger is looking at a £65 million trio to top of his squad as they chase their first trophy since 2005. The three players that are being in monitored are Chelsea’s out of favour midfielder Juan Mata, Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz and Adil Rami of Valencia.
Despite being one of the best players in the league, Mata is struggling to get in to the Chelsea team. Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to be a fan of the Spaniard but that could be Arsenal’s gain. The club tried to sign him in 2011 before Chelsea stole in but could be about to get their man in the end. Mata will want to leave Stamford Bridge if his situation has not progressed with the World Cup looming this summer. The club are willing to pay as much as £35 million for the Spaniard which may be a fee to high for Chelsea to turn down.
The Gunners thin options upfront will see them go for another striker in the shape of Yilmaz. The Turkish striker had an impressive season last year managing a thoroughly impressive 32 goals and was outstanding in the Champions League. His experience at 28 years old is perfect but could cost a hefty £20 million. With Olivier Giroud as the clubs only recognised senior forward, Wenger is ready to pay the fee.
A defender was on most Arsenal fans wish list but no one arrived in that area and Wenger plans to change that in January. Rami has vowed never to play for Valencia again and so it will be a case of will Rami choose Arsenal out of the host of clubs that will be interested in the centre-back. The Gunners are willing to lose up to £10 million on him to ensure he is playing at the Emirates.
