Arsene Wenger has revealed how Arsenal have come back so well since their open day defeat to Aston Villa.
The Gunners have managed to keep their squad together this year and Wenger believes the club are now enjoying the rewards.
Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri have all left the club in recent seasons leaving Wenger with a job to rebuild the team however this year was different and he was able to improve the team with the arrivals of Mathieu Flamini and Mesut Özil.
“It creates a big difference on the confidence level because you know we have done well before with that group, so at least you have a basis.”
“The confidence that basis gives you is of course important.”
“If all starts well then maybe not but where the stability was important I think is our first shock against Aston Villa.”
“The fact we could say ‘look guys’, we have been together for a while, we know that we have bounced back before, let’s do that again’. That is where stability is important.
Since that defeat to Villa, the Gunners have won the following eight matches and shit top of the league.
