A summer of change is coming at Arsenal with reports claiming that the Gunners are ready to trigger the release clause of Piotr Zielinski as they look to beat Liverpool to the Napoli’s star’s signature.

Arsenal fans have called on the club to strengthen their squad after missing out on the top four for the second season in a row and Italian sources say the club are ready to activate the €65m (£57m) clause of Zielinski after a string of fine displays in Serie A.

Liverpool are believed to also be tracking the progress of the Polish midfielder, with Jurgen Klopp a keen admirer of the 23-year-old before he joined the Partenopei from Udinese, despite the signing of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.

With Emre Can potentially leaving on a free transfer this summer, the Reds will be in the market for another central midfielder but the Gunners are hopeful of beating them to Zielinski’s signature.

Arsenal consider Zielinski an essential signing, report Corriere dello Mezzogiorno, despite the fact it is unclear who will be the club’s manager next season as Arsene Wenger will step down after Sunday’s game against Huddersfield.

The Frenchman claimed in a recent press conference that he believes the current Arsenal squad are just two or three new additions away from challenging for the Premier League title, despite their lowest league finish in over two decades.
