Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has explained his decision to not take the second penalty-kick which the Gunners earned in the clash against Stoke City on Sunday.

The 28-year-old had a fairly rough start to life at the Emirates stadium after joining the club from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window.

However, Aubameyang’s form has definitely gotten better in recent weeks, even though he is still not eligible to feature in the Europa League.

The former Bundesliga star added a couple of goals to his tally as Arsenal defeated Stoke City 3-0 at home.

But the real talking point after the final whistle was the fact that Aubameyang passed up the opportunity to score a hat-trick by not taking the second penalty-kick which the Gunners earned in the dying moments of the game.

The Gabon international opted to let the returning Alexandre Lacazette take the spot-kick instead and he has explained his decision.

“I know that Laca is back and I’d scored twice, so I wanted to let him score. It’s normal.” Aubameyang saidafter the game.

“I think it’s good for his confidence, and that’s why.”
