Jorge Higuain has said the player has been given broke promises and been treated appallingly. He reports the club promised a renewal of his contracts but over nine months, the player never received a call about it despite several meetings between Florentino Perez and Jose Mourinho.
He said his son had behaved excellently towards the club but after his poor treatment he wants to leave Madrid.
Juventus and Arsenal have been strongly linked with the player with talks with Arsenal held in Paris this week.
Higuain suggests his son wants to go to a club where he is treated well, one of the best players and where he is loved. He never got that at Madrid, although he should have done.
Higuain’s exit was confirmed by the player, his father, Mourinho and Perez but his destination is unclear. Currently a two-horse race, more clubs could enter the bidding if a transfer remains incomplete for the next few weeks.
The Argentina international has proven his goal scoring record with 122 goals in seven seasons at Madrid. Juventus and Arsenal want a proven goalscorer and Higuain could be the answer.
The Old Lady already have several options in that part of the field with Giovinco, Alessandro Matri, Mirko Vucinic and Fabio Quagliarella as well as the incoming Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao. Arsenal on the other hand has Olivier Giroud who plays as a striker. Marouane Chamakh, Park Chu-Young and Niklas Bendtner will all be sold this summer giving Higuain plenty of opportunities to spearhead the Arsenal attack.
Higuain as been used a bit part player ever since Karim Benzema’s arrival at Madrid. Last season he was used as back up to the French striker, coming off the bench as an impact substitute or appearing in the lesser important games. Despite his superior scoring record, he found game time hard to come by and has opted to leave Madrid in order to feature regularly at a top Champions League club.
Arsenal only just finished in the top four ensuring Champions League qualification, but still face a qualifier to make it in to the group stages. With Higuain on board, that may be already won.
