Spanish Giants, Real Madrid are reportedly keen on offloading struggling striker, Karim Benzema to interested parties, including EPL side, Arsenal. The Mail on Sunday report that Real are looking to offset the world record deal done for Welsh star, Gareth Bale in the finals days of last summer’s transfer window and currently hawking the 25 year old around the Premier League.
Alongside Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea are believed to have been alerted about the availability of the ex-Lyon striker, and the Gunners would have to fend interest from both London clubs. Arsenal’s French contingent, including Arsene Wenger who appears to be a huge fan of Benzema, might swing the pendulum in the Gunners favour, with ex-Real Madrid creator, Mesut Ozil also a possible bait for the French striker.
Wenger’s ability to get the best out of French forwards would also be a telling factor in Benzema arriving at the Emirates, should he decide to leave in the near future, with attackers like Nicolas Anelka, Thierry Henry, Silvian Wiltord and most recently Olivier Giroud all improving on their strengths under the tutelage of the 64 year old Frenchman.
It is unknown if Benzema decides to call it time on his Real Madrid career few months before next summer’s World Cup in Brazil, but there’s certainly a place for him at the Arsenal, who’s search for an established striker still carries on. However, if the French International is persuaded to quit the Bernabeu for the Emirates, he’s going to have to get used to the competition with fellow country man, Olivier Giroud.
