With time running out for Arsenal to bring in a top notch experienced defender before the transfer window slams shut, the Gunners have turned their attentions elsewhere.
The latest is Arsenal boss Arsenal Wenger has made enquiries over the availability of Omer Toprak, with reports claiming the player would fancy a move to the Premier League before the window is shut.
All effort for us to sign our no.1 target Shkodran Mustafi has proven abortive, with Valencia holding out for a whopping transfer sum.
The German born Turkish international revealed that he is open to an Arsenal move, after learning of the Gunners interest in him.
‘It is not certain whether I will stay at Bayer Leverkusen,’ Toprak told Turkish-Football.
‘We still have a month and anything could happen until them.’
However, Bayer Leverkusen’s capture of Dynamo Kyiv star Aleksandar Dragovic last night for £15.3 million has paved the way for Omer Toprak to depart the Bundesliga in favour of a move to Arsenal.
Dragovic, who is highly rated, arrives at the club amidst intense speculation that Toprak could either stay in Germany and join Borussia Dortmund or move to London, and link up with Laurent Koscielny in Arsenal’s defence.

With Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista sidelined with months, the need for defensive reinforcements at Arsenal cannot be over emphasised.
