Arsenal will be forced in the summer transfer market as Wenger seek to redeem his image
The Senegal international has had a fine two seasons in the Premier League, impressing first for Aston Villa last season before being snapped up by the Toffees in the summer.
Arsene Wenger’s side are in dire need of a better ball-winner in the middle of the park, and Gueye currently looks the closest thing to Chelsea star Kante in the Premier League.
Stats from Squawka show the 27-year-old is currently averaging more tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes than Kante, and seems ideal to add some bite to a Gunners side often lacking that extra defensive quality and leadership in big games.
Everton director of football Steve Walsh signed Kante during his time at Leicester City and was also responsible for bringing Gueye to Everton, with his eye for signings proving a huge catalyst for success at both clubs.
Having been beaten to Kante by Chelsea last summer, Arsenal now look eager to land Gueye, though they could face competition from clubs in Italy and Spain, according to The Sun.
Everton signed the former Lille man for just £7.1million last summer and could stand to make a big profit on the player whose stock has continued to rise.
Gueye has a contract at Goodison Park until 2020, so the Merseysiders will be under little pressure to sell if they don’t receive any reasonable offers.
