“Alexis Sanchez has consistently ranked amongst Arsenal’s most reliable and impressive performers since arriving in London in 2014. As the side’s most dynamic attacker, he has been instrumental in maintaining the Gunners’ position at the top end of the Premier League table.
But with speculation around the Chilean’s future refusing to go away, Arsenal fans have begun to worry who could possibly replace him should he see his future away from The Emirates. Step forward Juventus.
Tuttosport is reporting today that the Italian giants want to sign Sanchez to partner Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuaín, and they’re willing to offer Miralem Pjanić as a makeweight to get the deal done.
A €32m player himself, Pjanić has shone during his time in Serie A. A stylish, pacey and technically excellent attacking midfielder, he would certainly suit Arsenal’s style of play, and the stats suggest he could make a big impact in the Premier League too.
Pjanić has averaged a goal or assist every 131 minutes since arriving in Serie A at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, a rate superior to that of Arsenal favourite Mesut Özil, who has averaged a goal or assist every 153 minutes during his time in the Premier League.
Pjanić also contributes significantly at the other end of the pitch, with Juve keeping just 1 clean sheet in his absence this season compared to 5 when he has been in the team.
If Sanchez does end up moving away, Arsenal could do much worse than adding Pjanić to their ranks as a replacement.”
