Monaco striker Nabil Alioui is due to visit Arsenal’s training ground next week after the Gunners held talks with the player’s agent, according to reports in France. The 19-year-old has not yet made his first-team debut for Monaco but is considered as one of France’s highly rated young forwards.
Alioui is current representing France at the Under-19 European Championship in Finland and has scored two goals in the tournament so far. The striker has not yet signed a professional contract with Monaco but his performances for their academy side have attracted interest from Manchester City and Arsenal. According to RMC Sport, both Premier League clubs have held talks with Alioui’s representatives.
But Arsenal are hoping to edge ahead in the race after inviting the striker to visit their training ground next week once the Under-19 Euros have finished.
City, meanwhile, are hopeful that their positive relationship with Alioui’s agent Patrick De Koster, who also represents Kevin De Bruyne, could give them the upper hand in negotiations. Monaco are keen for Alioui to sign his first professional deal with them and plan to loan him out to Belgian side Cercle Brugge for the season. But should Arsenal or City convince Alioui to join them, Monaco would only receive a compensation fee.
