It was clear at the end of last season that Arsenal needed to bolster their squad with a striker but this led Arsenal to be linked with most of the available strikers in the summer including Alexandre Lacazette.
According to Samuel Umtiti has revealed that Alexandre Lacazette is waiting for the right time to leave Lyon.
Lacazette, 25, was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last summer, with Lyon confirming they rejected a £29m bid from the Gunners.
The Frenchman has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe in recent years and already has 17 goals in 16 Ligue 1 games this term.
Lacazette’s current contract expires in 2019 but Umtiti, a former Lyon teammate, insists the forward is biding his time before leaving the club.
‘I have a lot of respect for Lyon, they’re one of the biggest French clubs, but there will come a time when he could leave to improve,’ the Barcelona defender told Canal+.
‘He’ll have that desire, I know his character. He’s waiting for the right moment.’
