Arsenal are weighing up a move for Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins this summer, according to the Mirror.
The Portuguese star was in impressive form last season, scoring 13 times and assisting a further 13 goals as the Lisbon club finished third in the Portuguese league.
The Gunners are in dire need of a winger as they currently have no out and out winger in the side, with Henrikh Mhkitaryan, Alex Iwobi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all filling in at one time or the other on the flanks last season.
The Gunners are now looking to bring in the 23-year-old flier who has a release clause of £52.7 million on his contract that runs until 2022.
Gelson is a key player for Sporting Lisbon, and as such the club would want to keep hold of him, but things are not so well at the club after the club president Bruno de Carbalho threatened to suspend all the first team members in April, following a disappointing defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Europa league.
Arsenal’s recruitment team will now be looking to take advantage of the ongoing tension to lure the winger to the Emirates.
