However, it seems there’ll be light at the end of the tunnel for Arsenal with sources close to Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez claiming the player want a move to the Emirates despite being pleaded to by his manager and the principal of Leicester City.
According to reports cited in Algeria per Le Havre, the 25-year-old has secretely reached an agreement with Arsenal inform of personal terms. However, the deal is yet subject to a fee agreed between Arsenal and Leicester City for the player.
Arsenal have been looking to secure a deal for Riyad Mahrez but Claudio Raniery is wary of letting the player off his radar. Leicester sold kante to Chelsea and to lose another core player of his winning team will be dangerous to their title-defence campaign. However, the signing of Kapustska has been widely reported as a measure to replace the Arsenal bound Mahrez with the player.
The Foxes are said to value the Algerian at around £35m ($46.3m), but will hope that the midfielder will reject the Gunners’ approach and accept the new contract on offer, said to be worth around £100,000 a week.
Given his style of player, Mahrez will fit into the squad and Arsenal and the obvious victim to fall further down the perking order will be Walcott, who is yet to discover his real position.
