If reports in the French media today is anything to go by, then it is only a matter of when and not if Arsenal will be signing Alexandre Lacazette. According to the reports, Lyon are already searching for a replacement for the Arsenal bound player. The French club have their eyes fixed on Racing Club of Belgium striker Roger Martinez who reportedly has a release clause of €8 million.
Although club CEO and owner Jean-Michel Aulas has just yesterday claim Lacazette will not be sold this summer as Arsenal are yet to make an offer for him, the French media who are quite reliable believe both Wenger and Aulas are merely playing poker with each other. Wenger is said to be using tactics to drop down Lyon’s asking price while Aulas is doing all he can to ensure Lacazette doesn’t have to leave on the Cheap.
Lyon asking said to be asking for in excess of €45 million for Lacazette while Wenger is said to be ready to only pay €35 million. However, with Lyon now working on bringing in Roger Martinez, it could well mean that they are convinced Lacazette will not be playing for them next season and are already replacing him in advance.
