Manchester United have entered the race to sign Manchester City winger Jadon Sancho, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Dortmund and RB Leipzig believed to be monitoring his progress.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News who state Jose Mourinho is looking to offer the teenager a chance of a move without having to uproot and live on the other side of the country.
Sancho’s young age might see him reticent to join a side so far away from Manchester, meaning the Red Devils stand a chance of a deal despite the fierce rivalry between the two clubs.
The left-winger’s relationship with City has soured this summer. He rejected a £30k-a-year contract, was left out of the pre-season tour and has failed t report to training a number of times. An exit seems inevitable.
Arsenal were looking to capitalise on the uncertainty, with a view to developing the 17-year-old into a first-team player in the future. But they have stiff competition to procure his signature.
Should Sancho move from City to another English side, the fee will be determined by a tribunal. However, a move to a club abroad would see the Sky Blues earn £200k in compensation.
Tottenham attempted to make the youngster part of the deal that saw Kyle Walker switch to the Sky Blues this summer, but City rejected such a notion. Sancho is believed to be one of the brightest young talents at the club.
He shone for England in the European U17 Championships in Croatia and was named Player of the Tournament. It’s not hard to see why the Sky Blues are so keen to keep him.
