I know a lot of Arsenal fans would be tempted to think this is another summer that will end up being as previous where Wenger makes promises to sign players, yet come up with excuses of lack of players availability.
For those that have ceded their hopes that a striker will be signed by Arsenal, there is hope. Reports emanating from France claims Arsenal are currently in talks with Lyon as the London club are walking hard to sign the striker.
From the inception of the summer, Arsenal have linked to almost all the strikers in Europe but have not signed any of them. However, Arsenal offered some money for Lacazette but it was rebuffed as confirmed by the President of Lyon Michel Aulas.
Lyon never dismissed the possibility of letting the player off their radar but their language implies the sum offered by Arsenal for the player wasn’t sufficent.
Wenger stated after the game against Vikens that the club still has enough transfer war-chest to dole out in the transfer market.
“It’s not the prices, it’s the players. The money is never a problem if you have to pay what is requested. The price of a player is down to four ingredients. One is the talent, two his age, three is how much you expect him to improve your team, and four his resale value. If he ticks all four boxes then the price is not that important. You have to find the player.”
On the flipside, we have Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol still vehemently claiming that we’re not only interested in Lacazette but we’re actually in talks with him.
Arsenal are working hard to sign Lyon forward Aleksandre Lacazette. Two clubs still in talks to agree deal.”
We hope this is true. Wenger must stop bringing up excuses and go all out for the players he desires.
