Arsenal have reportedly won the race to seal the transfer of Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac ahead of the likes of AC Milan and Everton.
The 23-year-old is a free agent this summer and it is claimed that the Gunners are confident he will seal his Bosman move to the Emirates Stadium on the 30th of June.
Arsene Wenger has been keen to recruit a new left-back this summer as a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal, though ESPN claim the deal would likely force Kieran Gibbs out of the club.
Gibbs, 27, has been with Arsenal for his entire career since joining the club’s academy in 2004, but has only played ten Premier League games this season.
Kolasinac looks an upgrade in that area and an ideal fit to play at wing-back since Wenger’s recent change in formation to a 3-4-3 that is being increasingly used by top clubs around Europe.
While Gibbs has also shone in that more advanced role, it is now thought that he could make way in the summer as Kolasinac comes in.
The report adds that Wenger has been keen to sign a new left-back quickly and will now prioritise a signing up front for the rest of the transfer window.
