Hakan Calhanoglu has officially joined AC Milan from Bayer Leverkusen, after links with Arsenal earlier in the window.
The promising Turkish attacking midfielder is a free-kick specialist, and spent the last four months serving a ban as a result of breach of contract relating to his time at Karlsruher SC.
Free to play again, Calhanoglu (23) had been linked with a variety of clubs, but AC Milan have now ended the speculation by adding him to their long list of purchases this summer.
Arsenal are in a tricky situation with midfielders, with a large number on the books (Cazorla, Wilshere, Ramsey, Elneny, Özil, etc.) but with an inevitability about the injuries that will take at least 2 or 3 of them out of the equation by November.
However most fans seems to be in agreement that the club should be aiming to bring in a box-to-box midfielder, rather than a pure attacking midfielder like Calhanoglu.
If Özil left the club then it would be a different story, but the rumours seem to be mostly favouring a stay in North London for the German, and so missing out on Calhanoglu doesn’t seem to be a major problem.
