Juventus have upped their bid to €8.5million for Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb).

The Polish international is believed to have already agreed personal terms with Juve, with a €4m-€4.5m a season four year contract being put on the table.

Arsenal however have placed a €15m (£13.3m) price tag on the 27 year old, and the Bianconeri’s latest proposal is still €6.5m (approximately £6m) short of the Gunners’ valuation.

Juventus have already had two bids of €4m and €5m rejected by Arsenal, and although the latest offer is a marked improvement on the previous ones, there is still a big gap between the two sides.

Reports in Italy suggest a move must be close as Szczesny was not included in the tour party to Australia, but it is likely the Polish international is being kept back home just in case Juve make another bid. The Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones reports that the Gunners are hoping a £13m fee can be agreed but such an offer still hasn’t materialised.
