Reported Arsenal transfer target could be on his way to West Ham United in January, if reports are to be believed.
The 24-year-old – who plays just behind the main striker – has been in fine form for MLS outfit so far this season, scoring 12 goals and weighing in with 11 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
His performances appeared to have alerted the Gunners.
According to FOX Deportes USA, the north London outfit had shown an interest in Almiron before but had arranged to pay €13million (£11m) for him in the next transfer window.
But following comments from the Atlanta United president, Darren Eales, Unai Emery’s side would have to increase that offer significantly if they wish to sign the Paraguayan playmaker.
“So there were two clues as to why that was total nonsense: One was Eagles, not Eales,” he told The Game – as reported by the Metro .
“And the other was the suggestion of £11 million because it would have to take at least triple that for me to even get out of bed and think about any bids for Almiron.”
Links to the Emirates have gone quiet in recent weeks and that could be good news for the Hammers.
With winger Andriy Yarmolenko ruled out for up to six months following Achilles surgery, there’s every chance Manuel Pellegrini could dip into the transfer market to sign a replacement.
And according to TYC Sports , the Irons could help Atlanta United fund a move for River Plate’s Gonzalo Martinez by signing Almiron in the new year.
Asked about a future move to the Premier League back in July, the attacking midfielder stated that he would like to seal a move across the Atlantic in the future.
“It’s a very nice thing for me [to hear about potential offers from European clubs],” Almiron told ESPN . “Personally, it makes me feel really good because of the work I’m doing every day.
