Arsenal have had a breakthrough in talks with Mesut Ozil over a new a deal. The Germany international has reportedly agreed to sign an improved deal with Arsenal that will keep him at the Emirates until 2022.
The German midfield schemer is heading to the final year of his contract with and Arsenal are wary of losing the star player.
Reports earlier this season had suggested that Ozil was demanding upwards of £200,000-a-week, making him one of the highest-paid players in the League. The Mirror, however, is reporting that Ozil is close to signing a new £160,000-a-week deal with Arsenal. The Arsenal hierarchy remain confident that Ozil will sign a new deal with the club, with one club representative saying ‘we are confident’ he will sign, according to the Mirror.
