ARSENAL are confident Mesut Ozil is on the verge of committing his future to Arsenal by signing a new contract.
Ozil is one of several first-team stars at Arsenal with just one year left on his contract.
Arsene Wenger raised eyebrows last week when he said it was an “ideal situation” having players in their final year at the club.
But the Gunners boss has also publicly stated he remains confident both Ozil and Sanchez will remain at Arsenal for the upcoming season.
And it’s claimed German star Ozil is now ready to put pen to paper on a new £225,000-a-week deal with the north London club.
The Sun report Arsenal have made a breakthrough in negotiations with the 28-year-old with no other club in Europe prepared to offer him the same amount of money.
Arsenal have also reportedly offered Sanchez a new contract worth £300,000-a-week as they look to shut down rumours linking him with a move to Manchester City.
The Chile international had rejected an initial offer believed to be worth £225,000-a-week but the Gunners now plan to make Sanchez the highest paid player in the Premier League.
Ozil and Sanchez weren’t involved in Arsenal’s win over Chelsea in the Community Shield last weekend.
But Ozil returned to training this week and is expected to feature in the opening Premier League game of the season tonight (7.45pm) when Arsenal host Leicester.
Sanchez has an abdominal problem and won’t play.
